Sapling FI, LLC

Last Updated: August 3, 2026

Sapling FI, LLC (“Sapling FI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates SaplingFI.com, the Sapling FI smartphone and tablet application, and related websites, mobile applications, products, online tools, courses, digital content, accounts, and services that link to this Privacy Policy, collectively the “Services.”

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information. It also explains our practices for children under 13 and the choices available to parents, guardians, and users.

For questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at:

Sapling FI, LLC
Email: service@saplingfi.com

1. Important Notice About Children Under 13

Children under 13 may use certain Sapling FI products, including child-appropriate parts of the Sapling FI mobile application, only as allowed by us and, where required, with consent from a parent or legal guardian. In this Privacy Policy, “child” means a child under 13.

We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from a child under 13 unless we have provided any required notice and obtained any required verifiable parental consent, or unless an exception applies under applicable law.

Parents and guardians may contact us at service@saplingfi.com to review, correct, or delete their child’s personal information, revoke consent, or refuse further collection or use of their child’s personal information.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways.

A. Information Provided by Parents, Guardians, or Adult Users

We may collect:

Name
Email address
Phone number
Account login information
Billing and payment-related information
Parent or guardian consent records
Communications with us, including support requests
Information about a child account that a parent or guardian creates, manages, or authorizes
Mobile app account preferences, settings, and progress information
Other information you choose to provide.

If payments are processed through a third-party payment processor, app store, or mobile platform, that processor, app store, or platform may collect payment card, payment account, billing, subscription, or transaction information directly. We generally receive limited transaction information, such as payment status, transaction ID, subscription level, purchase date, renewal status, and billing contact details.

B. Information Provided by Children

Depending on the product or feature, we may collect limited information from children, such as:

First name, nickname, or username
Age, birth month/year, grade level, or age range
Parent or guardian email address
Account credentials
Learning, activity, or product progress
Answers, quiz responses, preferences, or saved work within the Services
App activity, streaks, goals, badges, completed lessons, or progress within the Sapling FI application
Messages or content submitted through child-facing features, if any
Customer support information if a parent or child contacts us.

We ask children not to provide sensitive information such as home address, phone number, precise location, Social Security number, government ID numbers, bank account information, investment account information, payment card information, medical information, health diagnosis information, or images, audio, or video containing the child’s face or voice unless we specifically request it and obtain any legally required parental consent.

C. Information Related to the Sapling FI Mobile Application

When users access or use the Sapling FI smartphone or tablet application, we and our service providers may collect information related to app use, device function, and product performance, such as:

Device type, device model, and operating system
Mobile app version
App language and settings
Mobile carrier or network type
General device region or approximate location derived from IP address
App screens, features, or lessons viewed
Buttons, activities, or tools used within the app
Crash reports, diagnostic logs, performance data, and error reports
Installation date, update date, and session activity
Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, app instance IDs, or similar identifiers, where permitted
Subscription, purchase, or app store transaction status, if applicable
Push notification token, if the user enables notifications.

The Sapling FI app may include financial education, financial independence, goal-setting, habit-building, family learning, savings, budgeting, chores, activity, fitness, or wellness-related features. If the app allows users to enter goals, activity progress, habits, routines, savings goals, chores, screen-time goals, or similar information, we may collect and store that information to provide the app experience.

Unless clearly stated in the app and supported by appropriate consent, the Sapling FI app does not collect medical records, diagnosis information, precise health measurements, or sensitive health data from Apple Health, Google Fit, wearable devices, or similar health platforms.

If we later add optional features that connect to Apple Health, Google Fit, wearable devices, camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, calendar, precise location, Bluetooth, or similar device permissions, we will request permission through the device or app platform before accessing those features. Users may disable app permissions through their device settings.

D. Information Collected Automatically

When users access the Services, including the website and mobile application, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

IP address
Device type and browser type
Operating system
Pages, screens, or features viewed
Dates and times of use
Referring and exit pages
Cookie IDs, mobile identifiers, SDK identifiers, or similar identifiers
Approximate location derived from IP address
Error logs, diagnostics, and security information.

For children under 13, we use persistent identifiers only as permitted by law, such as to support internal operations, maintain or analyze functionality, authenticate users, personalize product content, protect security, or fulfill a purpose for which we have obtained parental consent. We do not use children’s personal information for behaviorally targeted advertising.

E. Cookies, SDKs, and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, pixels, local storage, software development kits, mobile analytics tools, crash reporting tools, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember preferences, maintain sessions, secure accounts, understand how the Services are used, diagnose errors, and improve performance.

Where required, we will request consent before using cookies, SDKs, or similar technologies for purposes that require consent. For children under 13, we do not use cookies, SDKs, persistent identifiers, or mobile identifiers to build behavioral profiles for targeted advertising.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

Provide, operate, and improve the Services
Operate and support the Sapling FI mobile application
Create and manage accounts
Provide age-appropriate content and product features
Verify parent or guardian consent where required

Maintain app security, prevent fraud, and debug errors
Monitor app performance, crashes, and diagnostics
Enforce our terms and policies
Comply with legal obligations
Protect the rights, safety, and property of Sapling FI, our users, and others.

We do not require a child to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the relevant activity.

4. Mobile App Permissions and Notifications

The Sapling FI app may request certain device permissions only when needed for app features. These may include:

Push notifications, to send reminders, progress updates, parent notices, or service-related messages
Camera or photo access, only if the app later allows uploads or profile images
Microphone access, only if the app later includes voice-based features
Storage access, only if needed to save or upload files
Approximate or precise location, only if the app later includes location-based features
Health, fitness, wearable, or activity data access, only if the app later adds optional integrations and obtains permission.

Users can control mobile permissions through their device settings. Disabling permissions may limit certain app features.

We do not knowingly request sensitive device permissions from children under 13 unless the feature is necessary, appropriate notice has been provided, and any legally required parental consent has been obtained.

5. Children’s Privacy and Parental Consent

A. Parent Notice and Consent

Before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from a child under 13 where parental consent is required, we will provide notice to the parent or guardian and request verifiable parental consent.

Our notice may explain:

The information we want to collect from the child
How we use that information
Whether and how we disclose it
How the parent or guardian can provide consent
How the parent or guardian can review, delete, or refuse further collection or use of the child’s information
That we will delete the parent’s or child’s online contact information if consent is not provided within a reasonable time.

B. Verifiable Parental Consent Methods

We may use legally recognized or reasonable consent methods, such as:

Signed consent form returned by email or upload
Payment card or payment system verification
Phone or video verification
Government ID verification, with deletion of ID after verification
Knowledge-based verification where appropriate
Email-plus consent where permitted for internal-use-only collection
App store or platform-supported parental approval tools, where legally sufficient
Other consent methods permitted by applicable law.

C. Parent and Guardian Rights

A parent or guardian may contact us at service@saplingfi.com to:

Review the categories or specific personal information we have collected from their child
Request correction or deletion of their child’s personal information
Revoke previously provided consent
Refuse further collection or use of their child’s personal information
Ask questions about our children’s privacy practices.

We may need to verify that the person making the request is the child’s parent or legal guardian before responding.

If a parent revokes consent or requests deletion, certain features may no longer be available to the child if the information is reasonably necessary to provide those features.

D. Public Posting and Child Content

We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to make personal information publicly available through the Services unless we have obtained any required parental consent and provided appropriate notice.

If we offer interactive features, comments, community areas, uploads, or similar features, we may moderate, filter, remove, or restrict content to help prevent children from publicly sharing personal information.

E. No Sale or Targeted Advertising Using Children’s Information

We do not sell children’s personal information. We do not share children’s personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We do not use children’s personal information to build profiles for advertising.

If we ever materially change these practices, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any legally required parental consent before applying the change to children’s personal information.

6. Operators and Third Parties That May Collect or Maintain Children’s Information

Sapling FI, LLC is the primary operator of the Services.

Other than service providers acting on our behalf to operate, secure, support, and improve the Services, we do not permit third-party operators to collect or maintain children’s personal information through the Services.

7. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information as follows.

A. Service Providers

We may disclose information to vendors and service providers that help us operate the Services, such as hosting providers, app infrastructure providers, analytics providers, crash reporting providers, payment processors, app store platforms, email providers, security tools, customer support tools, and consent verification providers. These providers may use information only to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by law.

For children’s personal information, we take reasonable steps to use service providers that can maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the information.

B. App Stores and Mobile Platforms

If users download, purchase, subscribe to, or update the Sapling FI app through an app store or mobile platform, that platform may collect information directly from the user under its own privacy policy. This may include device information, purchase history, subscription information, app download information, crash data, and account information.

Sapling FI may receive limited information from app stores or mobile platforms, such as transaction status, subscription status, app version, device type, country or region, and diagnostic information.

C. Parents and Guardians

We may disclose a child’s personal information to that child’s verified parent or legal guardian.

D. Legal, Safety, and Security Reasons

We may disclose information when we believe it is reasonably necessary to:

Comply with law, legal process, or government requests
Enforce our terms and policies
Protect the rights, safety, and property of Sapling FI, users, children, parents, or others
Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues
Respond to an emergency or safety concern.

E. Business Transfers

If Sapling FI is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, personal information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

F. With Consent

We may disclose information with the consent of the user, parent, or guardian, as applicable. Where required for children under 13, we will obtain separate verifiable parental consent before disclosing a child’s personal information to third parties unless the disclosure is integral to the Service or otherwise permitted by law.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Suggested retention schedule — confirm before publishing:

Child account information: kept while the child account is active; deleted or de-identified within 30–90 days after account deletion, parent deletion request, or consent revocation, unless retention is legally required or necessary for safety/security.

Parent consent records: kept for as long as needed to document consent and comply with legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified.
Parent contact information collected only to request consent: deleted if consent is not provided within 30 days, unless a different reasonable period is stated in the direct notice.
Support communications: kept for 2 years unless deletion is requested and no legal exception applies.

Payment, subscription, app store transaction, and tax records for adult transactions: kept for 7 years or as required by law.

We do not retain children’s personal information indefinitely. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it using reasonable measures.

Users may delete the mobile application from their device at any time. Deleting the app from a device may remove local app data from that device, but it may not delete account information, subscription records, parental consent records, or information stored on our servers. To request deletion of server-side account information, contact service@saplingfi.com.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. These safeguards may include access controls, encryption, secure hosting, monitoring, employee or contractor access limits, vendor review, and security testing.

For the Sapling FI app, we may also use mobile app security measures such as secure authentication, encrypted transmission, limited access to app data, app platform security tools, crash monitoring, and periodic review of third-party SDKs.

No online or mobile service can guarantee absolute security. Parents and users should use strong passwords, keep login information confidential, use updated devices and app versions, and contact us immediately at service@saplingfi.com if they believe an account, device, app profile, or child’s information may have been compromised.

10. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

Request access to personal information
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of personal information
Request a copy of personal information
Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising
Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information
Appeal a privacy request decision
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To make a request, email service@saplingfi.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

You may also control certain mobile app choices through your smartphone or tablet settings, including push notifications, app permissions, device-level advertising settings, and app data deletion options.

We do not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights.

11. California and Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Some U.S. state privacy laws provide residents with additional rights. Where those laws apply to Sapling FI, we will honor those rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of children under 16 for targeted advertising. If we ever engage in a practice that applicable law treats as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, we will provide required notices and choices.

California law gives covered consumers rights such as the right to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain sensitive information use, and be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. California also requires opt-in authorization for sale of personal information of children under 16, with parent or guardian authorization for children under 13.

12. Email, Push Notifications, and Communications

We may send service-related emails, app messages, or push notifications to parents, guardians, and adult users, such as account messages, security notices, billing notices, app update notices, product updates, consent requests, and policy updates.

Marketing emails, if any, may include an unsubscribe option. Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may still send non-marketing messages related to your account, transactions, child privacy, safety, app functionality, or legal notices.

If the Sapling FI app uses push notifications, users may turn off push notifications through their device settings.

We do not knowingly send marketing emails, promotional app messages, or promotional push notifications directly to children under 13 without any legally required parental consent.

13. Financial, Fitness, and Wellness Information

Sapling FI’s Services may relate to financial education, financial independence, goal-setting, fitness, wellness, habits, chores, or family learning. The Services are for educational and informational purposes and are not medical, mental health, tax, legal, investment, or financial advisory services.

Children should not submit bank account numbers, investment account information, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, income information, medical diagnosis information, precise health information, or other sensitive financial or health information through child-facing areas of the Services.

If any part of the Services asks adults for payment or billing information, that information may be processed by a third-party payment processor or app store platform. Sapling FI does not intend to collect payment card numbers directly from children.

14. School, Teacher, or Organization Use

If the Services are offered through a school, teacher, homeschool group, youth organization, fitness group, family program, or similar organization, we may collect information provided by the organization, parent, guardian, or student to operate the Services.

Before using Sapling FI in a school, educational, youth, or organization setting, the organization and Sapling FI should confirm what consent, notice, contract, FERPA, COPPA, student privacy, child privacy, and app platform requirements apply.

15. Links to Other Websites and Third-Party Services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, tools, app stores, mobile platforms, or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Parents and users should review the privacy policies of any third-party services they use.

We do not knowingly direct children under 13 to third-party services that collect personal information from children unless appropriate notice and consent requirements are satisfied or an exception applies.

16. App Stores, Downloads, and Platform Terms

The Sapling FI app may be downloaded from third-party app stores or mobile platforms. App stores and mobile platforms may have their own terms, privacy policies, parental controls, family-sharing tools, subscription rules, refund policies, and data practices.

Sapling FI is not responsible for the privacy practices of app stores, device manufacturers, operating system providers, or mobile platforms. Parents and users should review the applicable app store, device, and platform privacy settings.

17. International Users

Sapling FI is based in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide additional notice where required.

If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or disclose children’s personal information in a way that requires parental consent, we will provide notice and obtain any required consent before applying the change to children’s personal information.
